Mick Ives is a British Cycling Champion no less than 62 times and the U.C.I World Masters Cycling champion 5 times. We have no doubt that Mick knows a thing or two about getting on a bike! When we met up with Mick to show him the Strider for his grandson, our own two children unsurprisingly found him to be a true inspiration.
He was at one time, the manager of the Great Britain cycling team, and the National Coach, and is the winner of over 1000 races.
Mick Ives, one of the UK's most successful cyclists, now has his grandson following in his slipstream on a Strider balance bike
Mick Ives now runs The Team Jewson MI Racing Team; M.I.Racing, which has been one of the U.K.'s most successful Cycling racing Teams ever since.
Mick became the first pensioner to complete the Tour de France in 2005. Riding alone two days ahead of the big race itself, Mick completed the 3,608 km distance under par, in just 20 days, having ridden two of the stages in one day. He is the only rider in the world to complete the race solo.
"The Kids started to master the balance on the Strider balance bike , within the space of ½ hour—without any fear, which is amazing, as they have been trying to balance on their small pedal bikes for ages with out success, mainly due to being afraid I think. Hopefully it wont be too long before they are on their way to copying Grandad. They think the Bike is fantastic, and so much lighter to handle than a normal bike. Thank you for great customer service, old fashioned honest advice and we thoroughly recommend the work that you are doing getting kids out on two wheels" - Mick
