Strider are delighted to announce our new balance bike ambassador - Kiera Byland.
Upon meeting 3 Times Gold Medallist Kiera, two words immediately come to mind. Determination and Dedication.
The dedication and long hours of training paid dividends last year at the Special Olympics in Los Angeles. Kiera's determination to win medals at her chosen sport of cycling, saw the 17-year-old cyclist becoming one of the stars of the games, despite her own struggles with dyspraxia..
Determined to pass her knowledge to others and inspire those with SEN to learn new skills and develop confidence, Strider are delighted to announce that Kiera will be delivering Strider balance bike coaching sessions to schools across the Greater Manchester area through charity GreaterSport and acting as a Strider ambassador.
GreaterSport, a Manchester based charity aims are "Inspiring a healthy future in Greater Manchester through Sport and Physical Activity" which of course mirrors Strider's own aims to inspire kids to ride and develop two-wheeled balance, coordination, and confidence in children is an exciting new partnership.
Joining together with Kiera, this is the launch of an exciting new project to deliver riding lessons to children with SENs and inspire kids in disadvantaged and deprived areas of Greater Manchester, the opportunity to get on balance bikes.
Using grants from Strider and from GreaterSport, Kiera has a fleet of Strider Sport balance bikes in all sizes, 12" , 16" and 20" to be able to deliver 5 week courses into schools from toddlers through to teenagers before launching an initiative to teach kids in very poor areas.
Strider give 1% of gross global revenue into a fund that we then use to distribute balance bikes to benefit others.
