Kids balance bike size guide.

Strider Balance Bikes have been designed around the child and designed to fit for as many years as possible. After all, kids grow quickly, so it makes sense to use our balance bike size guide to ensure the bike will last for several years.

With so many brands and models to choose from, there is a bewildering choice available so let us try and break this down.

Why choose a balance bike?

Bikes allow a whole new level of independence and are a great way to get them away from games consoles and out exploring the world. They will even stay fit and healthy and develop a love for the outdoors! Kids bikes are also a great way for families to spend quality time together.

The problem with bikes with stabilisers, the old traditional method of riding a bike, is that balance isn't being learned whilst the child rocks precariously from one side to the other, as the stabilisers are doing the work and not your child's brain.

Also, it is pretty hard to go on a family bike ride, as parents need to keep assisting kids up and down curbs and deal with the odd tantrum due to oversized heavy bikes that are no fun to ride.

What size balance bike?

Ignore frame and wheel size; it is the standover height that counts. Children need to have feet flat on the floor, with a bend in the knee, so the only things that matter are choosing a lightweight bike, so they can handle it. Checking the seat height adjusts to provide room for growth and adjustable handlebar positions so that they find a comfortable riding position so they enjoy riding.

How to measure for a balance bike.

We mention inseam/ inside leg a lot. To measure a wriggling toddler isn't easy so our guide to get the measurements you need, and then pick a bike from the table to suit. We would suggest doing this wearing shoes as after all, they will be wearing them when riding.
