90 children on Strider Balance Bikes descended on Birmingham BMX race track on Sunday 26th June to enjoy the Strider Racing as part of the Strider World Cup.
The fun, balance bike race series is part of a global event, run by STRIDER® to encourage children as young as 18 months to get outside on their bikes and ride with others. By encouraging a love for the outdoors, some friendly competition and a new challenge, children's confidence soars and new friends are made by both kids and parents alike.
The event in its 6th year, saw the introduction of a starting gate, which was greeted with delight by the 3 years and overs, but viewed with suspicion by the toddlers who then started without it. After all there is always the next race.
The ethos behind Strider as a global company is to build lightweight, efficient, all-terrain balance bikes that build two-wheeled balance, coordination, and confidence in children and then take them out and give them the opportunity to ride with others.
Strider have sold over 1.3 million worldwide and with a global race calendar there is a good chance a high proportion of these kids have come racing.
To see other events that we run visit the event calendar but please be aware the events in September are filling quickly. On the 4th September we visit the Cyclopark in Kent and the 18th September sees a downhill challenge with the British Downhill Series. Places must be booked in advance.
Huge thanks to Birmingham Bike Park for running the racing, to Tamworth BMX club for coming to help and bringing the Start gate and to Ian Taylor Photography for taking the day out to come and capture the memories.
